C section pain

Hi,
I'm now 6 weeks post partum and my c section incision site has healed well, had no issues or pain from it whatsoever.
What I do have now though is intense pain a few inches above the incision site and to the right a wee bit. It feels like the pain is in the muscle not internal if that makes sense. It's worse if I'm moving but it can get so intense if my rocking my wee one that I have to sit down. It's not painful all the time, but will occur if I'm active.
Anyone experienced similar or have any ideas?
I've been to see the GP but I don't think they've got to the bottom of it

Hi used to be chilled, so weird but this is like me - I’m also six weeks post psty and it’s only come on now - hurts when I move. Did you get to bottom of it?

Usedtobechilled · 31/01/2023 09:18

Unfortunately not. I've been to see 2 GPs and was referred up to the hospital. Doctor in the hospital checked it wasn't appendicitis (it's not) and then sent me home instead of trying to figure out what is wrong. My HV is trying to get me another GP appointment to refer me to get a scan 🤦‍♀️ been nearly 3 weeks now 😔 if I get to the bottom of it I'll try and remember to update this 👍

C section is brutal and causes a lot of damage. They put you back together but you’re never the same. Many women have permanent pain, me included. Five years later and I still can’t press my lower stomach because it causes pain. Doctors investigated and basically told me what I’ve told you - c section fucks you up, permanent pain is normal.

Have an ultrasound booked in today so will see. Wonder if it’s an infection or I may have even pulled a muscle

yep didn’t realise sections could be this brutal

@Namechanger355 could you please let me know what they say? I think I'm at least a couple of weeks out from finding out (if i ever do). My pain definitely isn't an infection as my bloods came back clear with no sign of any infection. Was hoping that would've been it as it would be straight forwards to treat.

of course. They saw a small collection of fluid near my scar - a haematoma. They said this should clear if it’s own without anything needing to be done. Otherwise ok on scan

the surface of my wound itself is slightly infected as it was red and inflamed. When I went to doctor before he thought jt was just a surface level infection and prescribed an antibiotic ointment

doctor today said that the infection is likely to be slightly deeper than skin and he would prescribe me antibiotics. He said it’s still a minor infection which my body would probably clear in time without antibiotics but they will help speed up my healing so I should take them - they are compatible with breastfeeding

he also made the valid point that c sections are brutal - that the muscles are pulled apart and held like that whilst the rest is ripped. That jt does just take time to heal - and what’s happening with me is a combination of the infection causing some of my tissues to be inflamed and painful, my nerves starting to work again and my actual muscles also healing which is why the pain is terrible when I use my core muscles.

doctor also made point that blood tests will pick up eg sepsis but may not pick up small localised infections eg this for me - in the same way jt may not pick up a small infection of a cut finger.

so I’ll be on antibiotics for five days

Do you have any other symptoms I. E. Urine infection etc?

Hope you feel better soon

Usedtobechilled · 01/02/2023 02:44

@mackthepony no other symptoms at all, feel absolutely fine otherwise. Wound has healed great, no complications, just this pain which feels almost muscle deep if that makes sense, doesn't feel 'internal'. I've been told it won't be scar adhesions because its too recent for that.

I had on and off pain for about 7 months and numbness for 2 years over a large area. I had a few other issues as well. They are body wrecking but was necessary for me.
