Hi everyone.

Just a few questions after having a c section.

How long until you can drive?
How long until you can exercise eg gym?
How long until you can have sex?

Thank you in advance 😊

I also have never had issues with pooing after either section (first emergency, second elective). It's just been as normal. I was very gassy after my first but not my second. the first pee was a challenge with my first section but again not my second.

There's a really large range of 'normal' tbh. I had an elective 5 months ago and it was honestly so easy to recover from I felt a bit embarrassed when the midwives/HV kept telling me to rest and that I'd had major surgery. I didn't need any painkillers after discharge 24 hours post-op and was out at soft play with DD1 and baby a few days later.

It was tougher with my first as it was a very urgent emergency section but still wasn't difficult. I've been very lucky so hopefully you will too!

I found peppermint tea really eased tummy/pooing discomfort.

Same! I had an ‘emergency elective’. As in I went into labour, but had to have a section anyway so not an emergency, just had to wait until a surgeon was free. My recovery was pretty instant. I was walking around as soon as the anaesthetic wore off, home within 12hrs of arriving. Paracetamol in advance for a few days as was told to, but nothing really hurt. In my head I would have happily done a cartwheel - didn’t put it to the test though!!

I was driving from 11 days. I could have done it sooner but my insurer wanted GP sign off and it took a few days to get an appointment.

At my six week cgeck my consultant said exercise was fine but no ab exercises until 12 weeks. However I went for a run and it felt awful so I then scaled it back.

Sex - not sure.
