UK mamma's: Blood sugar testing for baby

I've been diagnosed with GD and been told my baby will need testing for the first 24hrs after birth. Anyone in the UK that has been through this, how many times was your baby tested in this period? Did you end up having to stay longer? Would be interested to hear your experience. Is there anything you'd have liked to be differently?

I didn't have this with my first but went in Friday and left late Sunday night as just didn't want to be in hospital another night. Struggled with breastfeeding, lack of support, and a baby that wouldn't sleep unless he was held. This meant I'd had virtually no sleep since the Thursday night. Didn't bond well with my first either and hoping this time will be more positive.

Hi there, onlt just seeing your post!
My baby was tested 5 times, 3 hours between each test and we were home the next day. Baby was absolutely fine, she had a heel prick test for the jags. They alternated feet each time. Baby cried for a few seconds and then was fine. Actually made it easier for her getting the heel prick test at 5 days old as she didn’t cry for it!

I think mine was tested 3 times and I don’t recall it being too traumatic. I was in hospital for 3 days after my C-section so didn’t make a difference.
