What are your newborn visit rules?

I'm 34 weeks pregnant and with my other 2 children years ago I just asked family and friends to give me a call/text before visiting just to make sure we weren't due a sleep or I wasn't physically uncomfortable etc that day.

Are we putting in extra things in place folding covid right now? Like hand sanitation etc which I have in my bathroom near the front door anyway...

Just wondering if people are still putting in covid related safety rules at this stage to protect newborn?

*following covid not folding!

I think washing hands on arrival before holding baby and smokers removing outer clothing layer and no one visiting with a cold sore or cold/stomach bug anyway is sensible even pre covid times.
texting before visiting to check also sounds really reasonable.

Not specifically covid related but I don’t want anyone coming around if they’re unwell with anything, smokers can’t have had a cigarette within an hour of coming around and change their top, everyone to wash hands & use sanitiser before touching baby, don’t expect to hold the baby and absolutely no kissing baby.

I think letting you know they are visiting goes without saying really!

I am 39 weeks pregnant with baby #1, I know I’m a bit PFB but I don’t really care! I just want my baby to be safe and I have overbearing in laws so setting boundaries now.

I asked any visitors to do a lateral flow test before coming over (when it was free!). And no-one should visit a newborn if they are ill anyway - it's not fair!

I was thinking about the lateral flow tests too... Without them being free though I don't know what to do 😬

That’s a good idea, yes they aren’t free but they’re less than £2 each I think so not much of a hardship! My parents have lateral flow tests so they can and will test, in laws might be more of a challenge but I’ll insist.

I had covid in March so have some immunity (and the baby will too) but we’re going to a wedding full of anti vaxxers in June, baby won’t be going anywhere near them.
