Coming off citalopram for PPA

Hi all.
I’ve been taking citalopram for post natal anxiety / health anxiety about my baby son since October. I think it’s helped me a lot. I’m feeling much better and finding it easier to cope with my small children, lack of sleep etc. I think I suffer with weight gain and a bit of fatigue as side effects from the citalopram. But I'm so grateful to be feeling better.

However - ultimately I’d like to stop taking them as didn’t need them before having my second baby. He is nearly 1 now.

Basically I don’t know when to stop taking them?! I didn’t take them before so I’m hoping I don’t need them forever. But how do I know when it's appropriate to stop?

Is there anyone out there who took this short term for PPA and now doesn’t take them and is doing well? Nervous to stop.

Thanks

Speak to the GP they will help you decide

I agree that you should speak to your GP.
In general though you should have been back to your own self for six months or so and with no obvious hurdles coming up.

Echo what other people have said. Also check out Mind website for info. It can be a slow process, but you're still young so don't feel you must rush.

Don't rush it, you haven't actually been on them that long.

When you come off you're aiming to do a slow taper, not stop.
