Blotchy skin that appears on 8 month old?

I’ve inserted a picture. Blurred my sons face out for obvious reasons. Ever since he has been born, I’ve noticed what you see in the pic tends to happen. If he cries OR strains or goes in the bath ( I use a thermometer for bath water so it’s perfect temp) his skin goes like this. Only on the face though (if he has a bath then it’s all over for 5 mins then disappears again) then it disappears after 5 minutes from his face. He is very fair skinned but it looks so awful when I appears, if he woke up like that I would be rushing into a and e worried about meningitis but it always seems to happen during moments above. Anyone else’s little one does this? He is my first so don’t have any other baby to compare this too. I’ve spoke to a nurse and I get shrugged off where I don’t think they understand what I’m saying. Any stories will be welcome as I’m worried that maybe there is something dodgy going on that causes his skin to go like that when he strains or something. Thank you

Do you use any baby soap?

CrystalFlower · 08/03/2022 07:29

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor yes I only use Johnson’s sensitive baby shampoo and bath products. Nothing else

Stop using it, I've seen loads of babies react to Johnsons,in fact when I read your OP I thought I bet it's Johnson's!

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor hello, this thing just appears out of nowhere if he strains or cries (doesn’t even have to cry hard for it to appear) that’s regardless if he has had a bath recently before it appears or not. Don’t know what it is as people just write it off if I say my son goes blotchy red after crying they just shrug it off like that’s normal but that does not look normal to me

It can be irritation from soap or detergent that settle down but flares up with crying or heat or straining.
