What, why diastasis recti?

Baby is now 12 weeks old. I shunned all the belly bandit bits and bobs and decided to let body go 'au natural'. It turns out au natural is a big blob. I just caught sight of myself in the mirror today and my tummy is still huge. It's a big floppy mess with a hard lump in the middle. And it makes me look 4 dress sizes bigger. I checked with the doctor who has diagnosed me with 'mummy tummy'. What? Why is this ok? I did finger test I must have diastisis recti. I also have back pain and sometime have trouble climbing up from sitting. This is second pregnancy I didn't have this with the first. Between young child and a baby I barely manage a hiit video when I can. Any words of comfort or advice?

See if you can get a specialist physio referral. There are exercises that can help.

Be patient.
Gentle Pilates exercises will help the DR but it's understandable that you don't have time right now.
I didn't go to physio for it until my baby was 10 months old and with the Pilates exercises they recommended I'm now pretty much fully healed.
There are a few DR groups on Facebook too which I found helpful since you know it's quite common and it can be sorted.

my physio recommended the Mutu programme and it did me the world of good. Easy to fit into the day.

Yes, ask for physio help.
Weirdly, I had diastasis recti after my first pregnancy (four finger's width), but it resolved after my second pregnancy.
Did your baby turn head down late by any chance?
