I'm really struggling

I'm wondering if anyone knows what a midwife would be able to do if I'm struggling? I've had a really traumatic birth and they've asked me a few times how I'm doing, and I've generally been ok but I'm really struggling today. Not sure if it's just today, or if this is something that will be ongoing but I can't cope with it already.

They are coming back next week - what would they do? Refer to gp or something else?

My baby was in intensive care with breathing difficulties (was on ventilator, cpap, high flow and low flow for 10 days - now 15 days old), and today she's met a few of my family members who all commented on some noises she makes when breathing.

She made these noises in the nicu, but no one ever questioned them so as far as I'm aware they are ok and normal, but now I'm panicking.

I also can't stop hearing the nicu beeping sounds, like it's 24/7 - I'm on the verge of crying today, but I've been able to hold it in when I've been around people.

I’m so sorry you’ve gone through all that. I hope your wee one is okay and all on the mend now.
Your hormones will be going crazy right now even without the traumatic birth.
It was unfair of your family to make you feel like this, even though it’s been unintentional, they’ve made you worry.
Contact your midwife and ask if you can chat with her. Tell her how you are feeling, she’s there to look after you and your baby. She will be able to provide you with advice and the support you need

You should have access to the perinatal mental health team for support if you need it but right now what you're describing is totally normal so soon after that trauma. Your little one might have a noisy larynx caused by Laryngomalacia which is super common and will grow out of it. Ask your midwife about it on Monday. Don't wait until their planned visit if it's days away.

Yes I was going to say floppy larynx too. Really common and makes them a bit squeaky/noisy. Vast majority just resolve with no issues. Two babies in our antenatal group had it and both grew out of it with no issues.

You can self refer for talking therapy too in most areas, HIGHLY recommend, you’ll be prioritized as a new parent and it can help with the anxiety which is very common after a traumatic delivery.
