I had a c section 5 days ago & my milk came in yesterday - I have had a bad headache , sort of fever / chills muscle ache and nausea / low appetite - it’s making me worried because I had awful nausea 3rd trimester & hoped it would go away after birth which it did for a few days

Did anyone else experience anything similar when milk came in ?

No, I don’t think that’s normal I would advise contacting your midwife or going to delivery suite for a check up x

Get checked for mastitis

No I wouldn't say it's normal. Contact your midwife

Please call your midwives and get seen, it could be many things but it's not normal and you need assessing. I hope you're feeling better soon.

I had very similar symptoms and the midwives told me it was my milk coming in and I felt so proud and ignored the doubts I had that something was wrong. It turned out I had a massive infection in my uterus (I gave birth via c-section too). It has taken massive amounts of medication and weeks to heal and I still have some issues as a result now and I'm 8 weeks PP. Please talk to your GP, midwife or Health Visitor, better safe than sorry.

See your GP - you may need antibiotics. Mastitis could be the problem, or an infection related to your operation. I’ve just had this, and antibiotics sorted me out. Don’t wait like I did 😣

Knockon · 13/01/2022 12:22

No, you have an infection. See your GP ASAP

TulipsGarden · 13/01/2022 13:36

No, definitely call your GP and don't let them fob you off. I felt completely mental in my head, but not ill. You may have an infection, mastitis, or any number of other things.

I would also suggest doing a lateral flow test, as you've just come out of hospital.

Not normal. I was still in hospital on day 3 and felt like that. The consultant and registrar both wanted to discharge me, said it was my milk coming in, but the (newly qualified) MW went over their heads, kept me in, and screened me for sepsis. Guess who was right? I came home on day 7 after 3 days of IV antibiotics.

Not right at all - please contact either MW or GP
