Hey,

I had severe pre eclampsia forcing me to be induced at 35 weeks. I had pregnancy induced hypertension to start and then pre eclampsia hit with terribly high bp.

I was on 1200mg of labetalol and 2 x nifedapine to control it.

I'm now 8 weeks pp and I'm still on 200mg of labetalol in the mornings.

My bp is normal on the tablet but I find when I take my bp in the morning before medication it is running high. 140/90s range.
After meds it is fine.

I did try and come off them but my bp stayed around 140/90s so went back on one tablet.

I know some of it is anxiety induced because I'm a very anxious person.

What do drs do if bp is still high?

How long after birth did peoples blood pressure come back to normal?

Thanks in advance 😌

Hi OP, congratulations on your little one! I had pregnancy induced hypertension (although at 38w) and it took approx 3 months of gradually reducing my labetalol dosage before my BP was back to normal (although still on the higher end of normal). My ankles were swollen until about 4months pp as well. 😭 I just kept checking in with the GP (i had a home monitor and had to report my daily BP readings once a week). 8 weeks is still early post partum but don't be afraid to keep following up if things aren't improving.
