Lack of desire after having baby

I have no idea where to post this but here goes.

I was reading a thread on FB about how often other mums are having sex and I was surprised by the responses. Some it's everyday, a few times a week etc. I know I shouldn't compare as we are all different but I just don't want it at all.

I'm 10 months postpartum, breastfeeding and a mum of 3 children all under 5 so DH (he works full time) and I (PT) are usually exhausted after work and everything else! To quote I think season 2 Succession, we have got into a bit of a 'boxset death march' as it's all we usually have the energy for. Saying that, DH will instigate maybe once a week, sometimes every two weeks and I do enjoy it but could definitely go without.

Does anyone else feel like this? Is it an after effect of having kids/hormones? Just wondering if I will ever feel like it again. How can I get out of what feels like a bit of a 'rut'?

Hi, I've only got the one baby so I can't imagine how exhausted you feel! But I feel the exact same way with my partner and end up feeling very guilty about it, although I know it's nothing to feel guilty about! We've been doing it less than you and I've been like this since I became pregnant and I'm breastfeeding too.. I've been wondering whether I'll feel like my old self after breastfeeding? Have you had breaks inbetween breastfeeding/being pregnant? Did you feel differently then?x

I think I have read that the hormones related to breastfeeding suppress sex drive. Suppose it is nature as most people's bodies need resources for the baby rather than creating another when breastfeeding and most people's milk dries up during pregnancy before colostrum starts being produced. I am also breastfeeding an almost 4 month old and feel the same! Doesn't help that my lo feeds very often qnd doesn't like to sleep alone for long either.

I'm glad there seems to be a medical/hormonal explanation for it. You're right @lemon789 it's just another thing to feel guilty about.

I can't say I've had a break between pregnancy/breastfeeding but we're not having anymore kids so will hopefully see if it comes back then. It's just so hard to get in the mood when there's the risk it will wake one of them up or I end up thinking about what to put in the kids packed lunches etc.,
I know it's not the be all and end all but we enjoyed a good sex life prekids and it would be nice to get even remotely close to that again!
