Formula when out

Hello
We currently use a prep machine when we are at home but just wondering what people do for when they are out? We haven't been out long enough yet for our little girl to need a feed but just not sure what to do when we do start going out more!

Thank you!

ready to drink (pre-mixed) formula that you can buy in little bottles

We do prep machine at home and ready made when out. When DD was very little we used the 70ml bottles that come in boxes of 6. Now she's bigger, we use the 200ml bottles that come in packs of 4.

Just chill the bottles from the perfect prep (make a few) and take them out with you. Serve when needed.

We are currently using kendamil and can't get hold of any ready made bottles!! They are out of stock online and have been for so long! We were hoping they would have them back in before she was born!

When DS was little I used to take boiling water in a Thermos, formula powder measured out in a powder dispenser (from eBay I think) and a couple of bottles with filtered water in them from the prep machine. To make up I’d mix the powder with a bit of boiling water in the cup bit of the Thermos and then tip that mixture into the bottle and give it all a shake. A bit of a faff but fine as long as you’ve got a table or something to lean on and only takes a minute to do.
Otherwise if you’re not going to be out longer than a couple of hours it’s fine to make up a bottle in the prep machine and take it out with you.

I'm breastfeeding my 2nd child currently but with my first child who was formula fed from birth, I would fill a flask with boiling water, take bottles out with me and add the water and powder when baby was hungry. I'd then ask for a jug of cold water to bring it down to room temperature so baby could drink it

I was coming on here to ask this exact question!

I'm using Kendamil too. I currently make up two bottles with boiling water from the kettle before going out. I put one in a bottle warmer and leave one out so that it cools faster and is ready to drink sooner than the other. This sorts me out for the couple of hours on usually out and about but I would have no idea what to do for a full day out and I also don't even know if what I am doing is ok!!?? Been doing it this way for two months so far and baby is fine (4 months old now) and we use the Perfect Prep at home.

You could use a different brand of formula, instead of waiting for kendamil to restock. We use a complete variety, whatever type of dry and premixed formula is in stock.

I take a flask of boiled water to make up the bottle (I use aptamil tabs rather than powder) and a plastic jug that I ask to be filled with cold water e.g. at a café. Stand the made up bottle in the cold water to cool it down to a drinkable temperature.

I have sometimes also taken a bottle of cold water out with me for complete self-sufficiency Smile

I've just bought the nuby rapid cool set with the flask and then the cooling bottle x

I second the nuby rapid cool - it’s brilliant!
