How long did you take to fully recover? It’s been 6 weeks now for me but still don’t feel 100% recovered.. wondering how long more it will take

It's a while ago, but I think I felt normal by around four to five weeks. Have you had your six week check, do they happen in these covid times? I think you should ask your GP or midwife to take a look to make sure it is healing properly.

Honestly, About 10/12 weeks, it had got infected though. Doing PFE’s have helped massively and massaging the scar, now 16 weeks PP and can’t really tell! Will continue to massage.

About 7 months, exactly the same as the CS scar I got first time round.
It was healed up way before then but it was still giving me twinges, exactly like the CS scar.

Felt ok in daily circumstances after a month/6 weeks. Can still feel it in certain circumstances though, 26 years later. Sorry Grin

It took about 4 months to be honest but I did have follow up appointments after my 6 month check as there was some granulation tissue. Give it time and do get checked but I'm sure you'll get there!

Hi OP!

I’m 12 weeks pp and still healing. I had to have some granulation tissue removed as my scar wasn’t healing properly - it kept bleeding and was still very sore at 10 weeks pp.

Booked in with a private gynae and she cauterised the tissue and used silver nitrate to stop any granulation returning. It’s been a week since my procedure and the difference is incredible!

Would recommend getting it checked if you still don’t feel 100%. Could be normal healing or could need intervention.

DS is 8 months and it's obviously healed but everything still feels different down there and not in a good way. Also still get occasional twinges when doing exercise - expect it will stay this way now.

I would say at least a couple of months for me. No check up either as baby was born at the start of lockdown in 2020 x

Temple29 · 10/12/2021 20:08

I didn’t have an episiotomy but had a second degree tear after my first and was still in pain months later. GP checked and said all was fine but when I had my second I told the midwife about it and she said I definitely should have gone back to the hospital if in pain after 6 weeks. TBH I only felt normal after giving birth to my second baby and had another tear, better stitching I reckon.

Have you spoken to your doctor?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 10/12/2021 20:25

Don’t suffer in silence. Do speak to your midwife. But for me it’s been 10 years and pulls and is uncomfortable sometimes. It’s never going to be the same again imo.

Over a year. Nasty tear, lots of scarring tissue. Sex was excruciating (we only ly tried twice). Got referred to a gynaecologist who prescribed me with what I can only describe as a box of dildos of varying sizes (that qas a fun conversation to have with the pharmacist in the middle of Boots). It did help though. Still scarring tissue but no longer painful.
