First period post baby

At what point did you get your first post baby period? And were you EBF, bottle, combo etc. Any other factors you think made a difference?

I am 12 weeks PP and EBF with no period yet. I had awful periods pre pregnancy so am really not looking forward to it and every little cramp in my lower abdomen I worry is my period coming but so far nothing which I'm happy with for now!

With my first it came back around 4mnths pp. My second, it came back after 8 measly weeks and I've been having irregular periods since then. I'm 11 weeks post partum and have had 3 periods within 3 weeks.

SpikeDearheart · 11/10/2021 16:04

Mine returned at 15 months post partum. DS was EBF from birth and I was still breastfeeding when my period returned, although obviously DS was eating plenty of solid food by then as well!

Mommabear20 · 11/10/2021 16:06

Got mine 8 weeks PP with both mine but both have been exclusively formula fed

RoseAndGeranium · 11/10/2021 16:09

Mine came a couple of weeks after I started introducing solids properly and cutting back on breast milk, so I guess 7 months post partum. My periods post baby but whilst still lactating were much easier and more regular than pre-pregnancy, so fingers crossed you’ll get some longer term relief too.

Latenightreader · 11/10/2021 16:09

I had my first one at 9 months PP. I was breastfeeding. It was like starting them again because the solution I'd used for years was not comfortable and took a while to work for me. I get a fraction of the pain I used to have, which is something.

Fallagain · 11/10/2021 16:10

Ebf. 4 months pp

mayblossominapril · 11/10/2021 16:10

I gave birth in April 2019 and got my first period in January 2020. I was exclusively breastfeeding. I gave birth four weeks ago again and I’m not expecting my period for a long time. Well. Here’s hoping. Grin

Kittyofwhitby · 12/10/2021 08:15

Sorry I should have said that I started feeding my baby solids from six months - ie October 2019 but continued breastfeeding alongside that. And didn’t get my period until jan of 2020 (sorry I’m working on little sleep right now due to newborn dd2!) Confused

SoupDragon · 12/10/2021 08:18

I got mine within 8 weeks after all three of mine and they were all exclusively breastfed.

Totally pissed off!

SoupDragon · 12/10/2021 08:18

Basically, you can't tell how long it will be.

Willthewashingeverend · 12/10/2021 08:48

EBF and it came back at 6 months when I introduced solids. Currently 4mo PP with DC2 and nowhere to be seen....im in no hurry 🤣

NewAndTired · 12/10/2021 21:49

Thanks guys!
It's really interesting to see all the variations.
I'm in no rush to get mine back at all and hoping it'll stay away a little longer I just know I'll start to panic that I'm pregnant again if it doesn't return after another month or so 😂

About a year for me. Was still only breastfeeding up to 15 months (plus solids obvs)

kitkatsky · 12/10/2021 21:58

6 months post partum. Baby was EBF but we started a meal a day at the 6 month point so not sure if that was related or not

Driposaurus · 12/10/2021 22:00

Mostly BF all of mine, the first was mix fed for the first few weeks. 12, 11.5, 14 months respectively.

Mim21 · 12/10/2021 22:00

Mine was about 9 months PP DS was EBF but eating food by then too, I used to have at least one painful day per period, cramps were so bad I felt weak but I barely have pain with my periods now, so how they are for you could change 🤞🏻
