How did you loose your big tummy after baby & c-sec?

So I'm now 5 months post natal, put on 4 stone when pregnant, already had a BMI of 30/31 at the time. I was a size 12 top, 14/16 bottom now size 16 top, 20 bottom, even though I've lost 3 of the 4 stone!

It's all around my middle and I still look 6-8 months pregnant!!! I'm so embarrassed. My pregnancy wasn't easy it's was flipping hard, had sickness medicated by cyclizine which then brought my appetite back, lost a close family member, severe SPD, had depression so ate whatever I wanted in addition to meat and two veg meals.

My birth was traumatic ending in EMCS and I was broken yet held my head above water. I'm tempted to go on antidepressants shortly (have been on them before), I've held off as I was BFing but this has stopped now.

I've been doing the wrong things food wise and don't really have the money to get all the fancy diet foods etc. I did the fast 800 pre pregnancy and lost half a stone in 2 weeks but I've not got the money or time to dedicate to that. Whenever I buy fruit etc I forget it's there and don't eat it, so buying portobello mushrooms, passion fruits, etc they'd go off forgotten I'm sure.

Looking at my diet the only processed and sugary stuff I have includes jam or honey on toast for breakfast, bread for a sandwich, crisps, and those Mrs crimbles coconut macaroons.

I'm thinking of just having plain toast in the morning, sandwich things without the bread basically say a ham salad and no crisps or macaroons that should help?!

I'm also thinking of doing sit ups etc for 20 mins whilst baby is in the jumperoo. I do take baby for walks in the pram but only more frequently now they tolerate it more but baby won't nap in the pram!

We go to baby groups / classes 3 days pw, short walk between naps in the afternoon of these days, walk in woods and other places on non baby class days with the sling carrier. So we're not just sitting in the house all day, just to clarify.

Sit ups aren't great. Have you looked into if you have separated abs/diastasis recti? A protruding belly is a sign but please get a professional to check not just rely on me.

If you do then their are exercised you can do to improve it.

I'd switch to high protein breakfasts like egg or maybe low GI foods like porridge.

BurbageBrook · 25/09/2021 08:25

Your diet sounds terrible, those foods are all really processed and will make you eat more sugar. Agree with PP, porridge or egg on wholemeal toast/seeded bread for breakfast. Or peanut butter on wholemeal is OK too if the portion isn’t too big. Snacks (if really needed) of things like small portion of full fat green yoghurt with a few nuts/seeds to fill you up. Lunch like you suggest of a salad and protein I.e. meat/fish sounds good, but also soups could work. Dinner just remove the carbs so a meat/fish and three portions of veg affair. If you do that you’ll be losing weight in no time. Re: your stomach I’ve heard of some people having great results from Pilates.

Foolsrule · 25/09/2021 08:25

Walk everywhere. Just walk and walk and walk and it will fall off incrementally. You won’t see results immediately, in fact it will take a while! But just keep walking and one day you’ll notice the change. Good luck!

Lean protein is good for weight loss.

MrsTesfaye · 25/09/2021 09:50

What really helped me was taking baby for long walks in the sling! The heavier baby got the more of a workout it was. Good luck OP there is nothing worse than feeling crap about yourself x

NCAFGS · 25/09/2021 10:54

@BurbageBrook what I've mentioned is only the processed stuff, I don't just have these things and no nutritious food 😂 Our evening meals never include any processed food whatsoever. Usually protein and veg or protein, salad and rice. I do eat fruit but no where near the five a day!

@MrsTesfaye thank you Xx

Try intermittent fasting OP. You won't have to change what you eat if you don't want to (although I would recommend ditching the morning roast and having eggs instead). It's a good way of losing stomach fat.

@pinkgin85. Thank you Smile love the idea of a morning roast Grin Xx

Get your 10000 steps every single day. That helped me.

I second this. Itsounds like diastasis recti to me. Trouble is, it's difficult to get it properly diagnosed as most general GPs don't know much about it. You can look up exercises for it on Youtube though. Also, if you have the money, you could get a Mummy MOT.
