3 months since c sec, can I wear this to help retrain belly?

Wouldn’t a postpartum/csection support belt be more useful?

PinkPurplePeacock · 21/07/2021 11:56

@Tibtab I bought one that I think can be used for both but just wondered if it is recommended medically or best to avoid?

No. You won't want to either, believe me. Buy some post c-section leggings or pants instead.

No, let the wound breathe to promote healing.
I’ve had 2 sections and I don’t understand what you mean by retraining your stomach. It took me a couple of months to lose all the baby weight and then my stomach was pretty much as before. If you’re unfortunate enough to get an overhang then it will be because your scar has attached to the abdominal muscles and no belt will help with that.

@LakeShoreD sorry I've got complete baby brain and sleep deprivation and I didn't explain myself properly... I'm 12 weeks post surgery and I think I may have diastasis recti... So was wondering if the belt would help in this situation. Wound is 100% healed.

You'd probably be better off seeing a physio, getting it diagnosed properly and doing some exercises to fix it, tbh. If you do have DR it's important to get it sorted out.

PinkPurplePeacock · 21/07/2021 14:31

@Nowisthemonthofmaying how do I know if I've got it?

Ah sorry I misunderstood! If you do have it then a belt won’t help but physio and the right exercises will. You should be able to tell by lying on the floor basically doing half a sit up and feeling for a gap (if that doesn’t make sense then google it, I’m explaining it terribly). Have you had an in person post natal check up yet? If not I’d make an appointment to see the GP to have them check and get a physio referral if appropriate.
