Help needed! I'm 4 days postpartum and still not been for the dreaded bm :( I've been having 20ml lactulose 3x a day, orange juice & plenty water. Almost felt like I needed to go yesterday but sadly not
Any recommendations for anything I can get my husband to get at the shop right now please? Starting to panic 🥴

Senokot, max strength if you're feeling brave!

Suppository. Buy over the counter at Boots, Superdrug etc

MrsPnut · 20/06/2021 12:01

either laxido or a glycerin suppository, both can be bought over the counter and are gentle but work.

BabbleBee · 20/06/2021 12:02

Glycerine suppositories. Pop one in, lay on your left side and hold it for a good 20 minutes.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 20/06/2021 12:19

Suppository like other posters have said!! Failing that, a gloved finger and manually remove. I went a whole 7 days PP and that's what I ended up having to do.. it was awful but damn it worked. The relief was unreal!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 20/06/2021 12:20

Senekot, orange juice

Lampzade · 20/06/2021 12:21

Max strength Senakot

Senokot works and also get him to get prune juice and keep it in the fridge. Once you've had the first motion from the senokot have a glass every morning and you should have gone by the evening. Just to set you off on being regular again.

I've used many forms of laxative and highly recommend lactulose,a sweet syrup bought over the counter at the pharmacy, it's very gentle and very effective at drawing water to the bowel, thus rehydrating what's in there (originally had it prescribed when my piles were bad). Califig syrup is also good, you can buy that at the supermarket or pharmacy. I never liked senna-based products, I found them a little violent for me!
Glycerine suppositories are also good if you're able to hold them in for a while... I am not skilled in that department.

Thanks all for the replies, I am well acquainted with senokot Grincompletely forgot about it as haven't been able to take it in so long
Good news is that the lactulose has just worked now thank goodness, suppositories scare me a lot!
I just increased the lactulose to 15ml x4 a day and it worked, so would really recommend it as was quite gentle
