C section - 2 weeks after

Hi all, just looking for some advice/experiences from people who have had a c section! I'm wondering how I should be feeling now it's been just over 2 weeks since I had my c section so I can know what's normal - all I can find online is that pain relief is normal for 7-10 days and that it should take 6 weeks for full recovery, but nothing on what happens in between!

I had to have the end of my stitches cut off yesterday - it was poking out so the doctor did it and said it had started to open the wound. It doesn't look infected and he put some dressing over it and gave me some antibiotics in case it started to get infected which so far I don't think it has. I'm getting an odd pulling/heavy feeling on that side (right) for the last couple of days. I guess it doesn't feel painful just...uncomfortable. Is this normal? The doctor explained that it could just be the different layers healing, which makes sense to me! I'm just wondering how everyone else felt 2/3 weeks after their c sections, and what to expect in the next 2/3 weeks? Any advice would be great!

@WindFlower92 following if you don’t mind, would be interested to read any responses

I've had three c sections and felt a bit tender/numb but normal 2/3 weeks on. I had no need for pain meds after 3/4 days but I know of several people who got infections in their stitches so I think you can just be unlucky.

My MW (one of the rare good ones) explained that the reason for why one side felt more tender than the other was because that side had the more dominant surgeon.
I'm just over 6wks no pain for weeks but I can't walk fast, I'm a veeeeeeery slow walker.. Not sure if it's because of my stomach muscles being sliced or the spd I suffered or what really Confused it's like I've got the brakes on!!!

I think at two weeks I would have still been on painkillers, but beginnging to step down - so paracetemol and ibuprofen, but not the max dose of either I suspect.

A lot of people on here say they were normal in no time at all, but that wasn't my experience at all. You've had major surgery and it's normal to take a while to recover I'd say. Plus, if you were being poked and prodded yesterday you're bound to be sore today.

I felt tender and couldn't go for decent walks for most of the initial six weeks.

Two weeks I had a slight pulling sensation but was off pain meds. I had a small hole at the end of the scar which didn't get infected and closed up eventually - can't remember when, a few months maybe.

When it gets crazy itchy you know its healing :D

It's been on the itchy stage for a little while so hopefully I'm there! Thanks for the replies, I feel a bit more normal now but still don't feel like I can walk at a normal pace. I think I overdid it last week and so am taking it easier this week. I miss going for walks though! I even miss doing the housework Confused

Following - I'm 13days PP today following elective c-section.

I'm in less pain than before, certainly, but my tummy is still v tender from belly button down. It's also still really swollen and I look pregnant in my lower stomach as a result. I'm still taking paracetamol and ibuprofen routinely, but more because I'm scared it might hurt if I stop rather than because I'm actually in pain.

I've managed to go for a short walk of around 10mins and a very slow plod around the supermarket today but I'm surprised just how slow I walk now. It's like I can't get any decent pace and I kind of shuffle along slowly behind DH and DS!

When did people find their lower tummy deflated/stopped being so round and swollen?

I don't feel like I've bounced back put it that way!

WindFlower92 · 15/06/2021 15:09

If it helps @WaitingForNormality, you would probably be fine to stop the painkillers now! I started by just missing one each day until I realised that I wasn't in pain! It's just a dull ache if you overdo it, which is easier to do when the painkillers are masking anything!

I’m 10 weeks post partum and here’s what I went through.

Dizziness if I didn’t take my meds on time. I was having paracetamol religiously for 2 weeks after my hospital meds finished.

Tingling/burning sensation near my scar. It was so painful I thought it was infected. GP said it was my nerves growing back so that was expected.

My belly still looks like I’m pregnant, but I have DR and am waiting for a scan to see the extent of the damage.

My scar still hurts whenever I get up from the bed or from lying down. A lot more time is needed for me to heal I think!
