My babies never really drank exactly the same amount at every feed. I’d make up 150 and see how much they want. Some feeds they’ll probably want more and others less. If they seem satisfied after 130ml just leave it there.

Mines still on 90ml at 16 weeks!

Always better to make more than not enough. My daughter never ever took more than 3oz at a feed, right up until a year old. I always made a 5oz bottle just incase though.

I think it’s different for every baby. My son was always a hungry little man & he would drink quite big bottles compared to my friends daughter of a similar age. As long as he’s putting weight on.
I guess they’re the same as us, some days we don’t feel quite as hungry as others. I find the newborn stage quite unpredictable sometimes, then they get little growth spurts & get extra hungry.

Sorry to jump on a little late, just so you don't worry every baby is completely different and the stuff on the formula packaging is literally a 'guide' so try not to take it as bible.

With reflux, my DS had gaviscon from the doctor and it worked a treat. We used infacol for the first 3 months and also invested in the tommee tippee advanced anti colic bottles (they have turquoise rims instead of black) and I read the reviews first which were quite good and the bottles have been a godsend! Colic pretty much cleared up straight away and the non stop wailing about it went.

You judged what your baby needs, they will give you and indication. I always gave my DS an ounce more in the bottle so that when he had enough there was always abit left which told me he definitely had enough rather than him draining it and me not being sure if he was full or not.

Hope this all helps 😊

If baby has their 8 week jabs, be prepared for strange behaviour. Luckily mine literally just slept most of the day after 8 week, 12 week & 16 week but some can go off their feeds.

I found my GP to be abit pants, they seem pretty clueless when it comes to babies and unless they're not putting weight on, then they're not bothered. I had to push for a repeat prescription of gaviscon, best thing I ever did.

Also if it is colic they'll most likely tell you infacol, gripe water or baby will just grow out of it... fab advice that is 🤣

Good luck!! Don't underestimate yourself as a FTM, I am too and I'm learning every day and I'm actually quite proud of myself, you should be too! Your openly invested in finding the best solution to help your child, that's a fantastic mum full stop 😊

Cow and Gate do anti reflux milk. We used that until my son was a year old. Try it, it'll help.

Snackz · 13/04/2021 12:46

@Wedding2018 Our daughter struggled with feeding due to reflux and never drank what she was supposed to. The HV told me to ignore the recommendations on the box and go with what we thought was right.

Drs recommended Infacol which didn't work. We were then prescribed Gaviscon which worked and then stopped. We made the decision to put her on Cow and Gate reflux milk and the difference is incredible!

I'm a first time Mum too so know how worrying it can be. You've got this! Easter Grin

@Wedding2018 Neither. We knew it existed but just didn't try it. We'd gone to Morrisons to buy the normal cow and gate for her, saw the reflux milk, decided to try it and saw a difference from the first feed. Smile

With the reflux milk, you're supposed to leave the kettle 45 minutes, mix the water with the formula and then leave to settle for 7 minutes. My daughter gives no notice she's hungry so we always have a flask of boiling water ready so then we only need to wait 7 mins for the milk to settle Smile

With the normal formula, it didn't matter if we kept her upright for 2 minutes or 2 hours, the minute we layed her down, she'd throw it up. With the reflux milk, we can lay her down instantly Smile
