3 week old...sore bum question!

I'm a FTM And until about a week ago my little girl would have one poo a day.. now she's pooing like 4 or 5 times a day! Some are "normal" others can be mucus and seedy. With her now pooing a lot she's managed to get a very sore bum (must look worse than it is and she doesn't seem in discomfort with it just yet) I've started to change her a lot more regular now. My question is after every nappy should I be putting nappy rash cream on? Or just every now and then? Can you put too much nappy cream on where that starts to irritate her? Or more regular the better? It's only started to look sore last night and today so not too worried where I need the drs, just abit advice on how regular I should be using the nappy rash cream on her

I used to have to put sudocrem on after every change until DS -sensitive soul-was about 18 months. If I ever missed one he would flake up and be sore. Sudocrem says it can be used every change.

? Don’t know what you mean by this, but you should change her nappy as soon as possible after each poo. Nappy changes are not meant to be “regular.”

What helps any soreness rash is also to clean gently and then give the skin a minute to air dry before you put on any creams. Yes you can put on fresh cream after every poo. When you clean them after a poo, you’re essentially also cleaning off the old cream.

Metanium always works work with my little ones nappy rash.

Change her as soon as she does a poo. Regular time with a nappy off (you could google baby massage vids and try some of these while you're at it!) You don't need to change nappies that are just wet that often, I'd say every 3 hours or so.

I'd put a bit of barrier cream like sudocrem on every time, but you only need a little bit - it's supposed to form a thin barrier over the skin, think lipgloss.

You might want to try a different brand of nappies too.

Thin layer of yellow metanium cream on the sore bits then a layer of sudocrem wherever you usually would. I would use it for every change while her bottom looks red or sore

I always used Vaseline at every nappy change. Never had any problems with nappy rash

I realised I probably Worded it wrong. I don't knowingly allow her to sit in dirty nappies. I just meant I'm trying to change her after every wee.

I'd use it at every change until the redness goes, but use a lot less then you think. You need a very thin layer and if possible let it 'dry' for a minute or so before putting the new nappy on.

Bare bum time is also great for their skin. Just strip her off and lie her on an old tow in a warm room for 10-15 minutes. Just before bath time is usually a good time, as you'll be putting the heating on for that, and you'll wash off any pee inthe bath.

@LouiseT12
Ok. Thanks for explaining that.

DD was like this and pooped so much is gave her nappy rash! Things that worked for me were

Give baby as much nappy free time as you can. If this isn't feasible, hair dryer (on cool blast on baby's bum to dry it). We did this EVERY nappy change. Bit of a pain but honestly it really helped

And then yellow metanium really thinly applied, with bepanthan on top.

Also I stopped using wipes and used cotton wool balls and cool boiled water

Trust me I used EVERYTHING! And found that above helped the most
