Who else got stuck with a horrid pooch? I’m 8 weeks postpartum and everything says your uterus takes 6 weeks to bounce back. Am I stuck with this flabby belly? Any advice on how to get rid? It’s make me miserable, I can’t fit in any of my old clothes - everything else about my clothes fit, except I can’t do my trousers/skirts up over my belly and it shows through my tops. Sad

8 weeks?! It takes about 6 months for hips and pelvis to move back into place. Enjoy your baby and eat lots of cake and your tummy will shrink back in time.

Oh I’m so glad to hear that! Google and my mum friends all said 6 weeks!

@Shirleyshirleyshirley I think for me it took about 9 months to get back to normal. Which I was happy with. 9 months to grow a baby. 9 months to recover. I was too tired to be able to get into any exercise for months! By the time bsby was 1 I was in better shape & weighed less than before I had her. Running around after a toddler definitely helps vs the early months where I was sitting with baby attached to my boob 24/7!

@otterbaby don't listen to what other people say about their babies. Most of it is lies. So many people I know said their baby was sleeping 7-9 stretches. Didn't mention the feed they were giving in that time or the 4-5 times they had to put the dummy back in their mouth!

My little girl was the cryiest grumpiest worse sleeper of all the babies I know. Very high needs. Clingy etc.

Woke easily 6-10+ times a night. Not sure exactly when it changed. 6-8 months I realised I was probably waking her up. 8.5 months moved her into her own room. Instantly she went to 1-3 wake ups. Within a couple of weeks that was 0-2. I couldn't believe she sometimes slept through. Gradually by 11-12 months she was mostly sleeping through and self settling. She 16 months now and is a brilliant sleeper! 645pm-7-730am.

I never felt the need to lie about what a terrible sleeper she was. Everyone else in one breath was saying how amazing their kid slept, and in other conversations you'd hear otherwise.

Sleep is something baby needs to learn for themselves. Feeding very regularly early on is totally normal.

@otterbaby sorry i meant to say my kid hated the car, I dreaded going out anywhere with her because all she did was cry. Once she started moving/sitting, crawling then walking. She's been amazing. She's such a brilliant lovely little girl now. I just think she was impatient Grin

I'm pregnant again now and I think the one thing I will do differently is prioritise her sleep and naps more than going out. I think she was probably an over tired grump and more sleep would of helped her. But we will see Confused

Look up diastasis recti as that can cause the post- baby bulging tummy. There are specific exercises you need to do to repair the muscles. It takes time though and if you're breastfeeding, recovery might be a bit slower I think due to the hormones in your body. Give yourself time! Your body has been through a lot Wink
