Am I being overly picky?

Sorry if tmi but since giving birth I've got a hemorrhoid the doctor prescribed me a suppository at my six week check but me being me has read the leaflet it comes with and it says not to take if your breastfeeding or pregnant - the doctor knows I'm breastfeeding as I fed at the appointment so do I ignore the leaflet or not?

The NHS are under strain at the moment and I don't want to pester them if I'm just being silly!

Most medicines usually say that because pregnant or breastfeeding women won't have been included in the clinical trials. However lots of things that say that in the leaflet are OK to take when pregnant.

Sometimes doctors get it wrong though. I've been told to buy things like a throat spray for tonsillitis when breastfeeding a very small baby and when I asked the pharmacist they said I absolutely couldn't use it.

Can you phone the pharmacy to ask? Have you googled?

I meant to say, lots of things are still OK to take when pregnant OR breastfeeding. You just need to check with a pharmacist or Google.

I really hurt my back a few months ago while breastfeeding. Well, not WHILE breastfeeding 😅, I lifted something heavy and was in A LOT of pain. Couldn't get an appointment or call with pharmacist so ended up taking one naproxen which was not advised in the leaflet but said online could take short term. Nhs website. Ended up having awful side effects though such as nausea and fever so wasn't worth it!!

Hope you feel better soon.
