Postpartum weight loss

So during my pregnancy I gained 3 stone, I started at just over 10 stone, I was surprised how much I gained as I remained active which usually keeps my weight down. My baby was 9'6, however 6 weeks pp I've only lost just over a stone, I'm combination feeding and I'm eating the same calories I ate pre pregnancy, however I'm less active. On some threads I've seen the majority of women commenting saying how they lost far more weight than I have by now. I've bought a treadmill which I'm waiting to be delivered. I used to love going out for long walks but I just don't feel as confident to now, my baby feeds every 2 hours and can be hungry more than that so I just feel it's easier to stay at home.

Has anyone experienced losing the weight so slowly? Did it come off naturally later or will I need to take more drastic measures to try and lose the weight now. I'm just really not feeling good about myself though my friends and family say I look good pp and are shocked when I tell them I still have 2 stone to lose. Could it still be water retention? Any advice would be appreciated!

@meeeeh I was really worried about weight gain then loss after birth because I have to work hard to keep my weight down. My LO will be 5 months on the 13th.... it took me 4 months to loss all the weight I gained in pregnancy. I gained 3st 3lbs in total and little one only weighed 7lb 14oz.

I was eating about the same as before maybe slightly more, exclusively breast feeding and making sure I was going out for an hour walk a day after 6 weeks when I felt able too.

Don't try and out pressure on yourself, everyone's different and the weight will come off. I was so surprised it was off by 4 months as I fully expected it to take 9 months.... after all it took that long to come on.

I usually go to the gym 5 Times a week but haven't since first lockdown in March.

It’s only six weeks, give yourself a break.

Breast feeding can make you hungry and thus eat more and for some women cling on to weight. Honestly two stone is nothing, and it will come off. I’d not stress about it at this stage, just focus on you and your baby, everything else will come in time.

You're still very early days so don't worry about it too much. I put on tons of weight when pregnant both times and it took almost a year for it to go. Some of that was slimming world and exercise but a lot was just time. My babies were over 9lbs too and I was breastfeeding.

Water weight will take a while to go as well.

It took 9 months to put it on, expect the same for it to come off.

Just to add as well. With my son my rib cage expanded loads as well. That took time to return to normal on its own

OP I have no advise I'm afraid, but am in a similar situation. I am 3 weeks post partum which I know is not very long in the grand scheme but based on others experiences I thought I would have lost a bit more of the pregnancy weight by now. I am definitely not eating as much as I was when pregnant, and am trying to be as active as possible. I braved the scales this morning, and realised I am almost 2 stone heavier than my pre pregnancy weight which is more than I had expected. Before giving birth I told myself I wouldn't worry about weight until at least after Christmas, but thats easier said than done when you have no clothes which fit. At least with the lockdown I dont need to dress up nice to go anywhere for a few weeks. My plan is to try and get out for walks as often as possible and hopefully when we can see people again i,ll feel a bit better about it.
