I keep getting the "sweats" - is this a fever or normal?

I had a postpartum infection and am just finishing my ABs. When they started I had a massive "sweat"... literally pouring down me. I've had this to a slightly lesser extent nearly a week later a few times. I went to a and e fri night with a sudden big blood loss so I was checked out and my infection markers are down, temp is ok... so if my temp is down, what are these sweats? I did read on google a bit about sweating out excess water but only on random sites so I am not sure if that is an avtual cause ? Any ideas ? X

Did you have fluids in labour? I remember my midwife said it would take 2 weeks to shed the water.
The only other time I had sweats was on sertraline for post natal depression

I used to get the sweats post partum. They were a pain in the arse. Usually at night though.

Now I just get hot flushes. Hormones are great fun sometimes

Oh god yes, the postpartum sweats. I used to wake up drenched & stinking Blush

When was baby born?

I drank alot in labour if thats what you mean. Everyone kept telling me to drink, then I had a CS where my BP went very very low and everyone said drink plenty, and so I've been trying to drink and drink because I kept being told I'm dehydrated because then they struggled to take blood Confused

Baby born 23rd. I am worried that it's the infection but I don't want to keep going back to hospital Blush

Sorry wasn't clear, I meant fluids in a drip, I had induction and c section so they pumped me full and I was all puffy.

I think you need to call the midwives, OP, rather than depend on advice here for this sort of thing. I hope everything goes well.

Get advice. My Pp infection ( alternate sweats and shivers) turned into pp septicaemia. Don't be circumspect with your health right now.

I had sweats for around two weeks after each birth. The midwife told me it was because in pregnancy your blood volume increases to support the baby. But then after birth, it gradually returns to normal levels and your body gets rid of it by sweats.

I agree though, you should talk to your midwife about it because you did have an infection? I never did. So you really need a professional answer that takes into account your personal medical history.
