Smelly Fanny farts

Sorry, I'm kind of embarrassed to talk about this, but here we go...
I've given birth on August 12th 2020, so I'm more than 6 weeks postpartum now.

I suffer from something really embarrassing, which means that several times a day a fart comes directly out of my vagina. It smells as if it came out of my butt and it is usually a bubbly fart.

I'm really concerned about this, is there anyone else that's got experience with this or is currently going through it?

Thanks in advance & sorry for the tmi

It could be a fistula - see your GP soon. These can be unpleasant but are treatable.

Either air is getting trapped in there (but that doesn't explain the smell) or its a fistula. Talk to your GP as soon as you can. Hope you get sorted

Not as a random thing like that but I did find after I gave birth (a few decades ago now!) that I was doing kegels (they were not called that then) and I found I could "suck" air in and then blow it out by "pushing" it used to make my late husband laugh but I don't have much use for it in my old age

You need to speak to a doctor as soon as you can. Rectovaginal fistulas are not uncommon after birth and this symptom is typical.

They are not necessarily dangerous so there is no need to rush off to A&E now, but you should speak to your GP at the earliest opportunity. In the meantime, keep an eye out for anything else unusual and if you get a fever, an increase in pain, or notice any pus or foul smelling discharge you need to go to hospital as it could be a sign of infection.
