So my daughter is 5 weeks old. She had some diarrhoea and vomiting yesterday and just wanted to sleep and be cuddled. She was getting quite warm so we took her temperature and it was 38 degrees. She was getting harder to wake up and wasn't eating or filling her nappies so we came to a and e. We've been here since 9 last night. We're on a ward with a cot for her and a little bed for me. Im so exhausted and worried. They took her blood and it took 3 attempts and hearing her screams broke my heart. She has a cannula in and is being monitored and antibiotics. Has anyone gone thru similar? Thanks

I haven't been through similar but didn't want to leave without saying good luck. Thank god you've gotten her to hospital wishing her a speedy recovery Thanks

Hi yes my daughter was 5 weeks when she was admitted for a week with bronchiolitis. It’s tough but she’s in the best place and she won’t remember the pain of the cannula. Try and rest if you can - I didn’t sleep at all the night she was admitted and asked them to keep the parents cot next to her bed down during the day so I could catch up on some sleep.

So sorry your little girl is poorly OP. You did well to spot the signs and get her the care she needs. I’ve been there with my really little DS and it was horrible but the staff were excellent and it’s where he needed to be. Remember, they’re ultra cautious with such little ones so some of the scary stuff they do or talk about may be them erring on the side of caution.
Make sure that you look after yourself. You need food, drink and any rest you can manage so that you have enough resources to keep going and support your DD. If anyone offers tea/biscuits/food or other help then say yes! Also ask all the questions you want. Don’t be afraid of being a pain. Write them down in your phone if you think you might forget them. Wishing your DD a very speedy recovery Flowers
