My 3 week old son got put on nutramigen 5 days ago now for cows milk allergy 2 days ago got put on losucs mops for GERD and carobel. I haven't seen any improvement and he is always still in agony, pulling his legs up, straining alll day and night and now this morning has diarrhea. Did anyone else experience this? Does it just mean the old milk is coming out and it will improve or should I go back to doctors?

No advice I'm afraid but I found a CMPA group on Facebook really helpful: Main Group - CMPA Support. I'm certain the people in there will help. Good luck Thanks

Nutramigen made my son even worse and we ended up on Neocate and he is a different baby now. I found the Carobel and Neocate have made his poops really running and dark green, apparently this is normal.
A lot of people told me Neocate was awful tasting and my son would likely refuse it but he guzzled it down, so don't be it off trying it :)

My little girl is 10 weeks, she had awful pains for the first 8 weeks - arching back, clenching fists, inconsolable crying. Her formula was changed 5 times from hipp organic to cow & gate comfort to Aptimal lactose free then nutramigen & aptamil Pepti, nothing was working! Nutramigen seemed to be the worst! She had very runny nappies during changeovers. The doctors kept saying she had a cows milk allergy! At 7 weeks she was admitted to hospital where they diagnosed Silent Reflux, she is on 10mg of losec a day & back on hipp organic with carobel. She is like a new baby.

Nutramigen contains milk protein which is hydrolysed into amino acids, small enough for some babies to tolerate. They prescribe this first as it is cheaper than neocate. Neocate has no milk protein in and is good for very sensitive allergies. Both my children didn't cope with Nutramigen, but did well on neocate. Also, bare in mind for the future, children with milk protein allergy often have issues with soya as the proteins are similar to each other. Good luck, it is extremely tiring to have a refluxy baby. Be kind to yourself, and tell people how hard it is - putting on a brave face just makes you feel worse long term xx
