C-section pain

So I ended up having an emergency c-section. What I'm wondering is, are there any tips anyone could give me with regards to controlling the pain?
Whilst I'm still in hospital I can have morphine, but obviously they want to get me off that as I can't have it at home. I'll only have access to crappy paracetamol and ibuprofen 😔 Those alone aren't working and I'm in agony without the morphine. It's to the point where it can take me almost an hour to just be able to sit up in bed so I can make my way to my baby and attend to his needs.
I can't stay in this sort of pain for however long it's going to take me to heal from major surgery. What am I supposed to do??

@BCA23 good luck. I was also terrified about stairs due to bathroom on top floor but strangely was much easier than expected. Getting out of bed when stiff in the morning was much harder - I managed stairs without issues so you might get lucky.

Oh also- the car journey home was interesting so make sure you hold on to the handle/ dashboard and get your other half to drive smoooothly!

Congratulations! I've had two sections, and was sent home with nothing. Unfortunately after my first section, my stitches split and I ended up back in hospital where they prescribed naproxen and codeine. Second time, I insisted on having naproxen. You can breastfeed on naproxen too, if that's relevant for you.

My only advice is keep taking the painkillers, even when you think you are fine. I think I took painkillers religiously for at least a week.

Hi. I've had 2 c-sections. The pain experienced getting out of bed or sitting up I found to be the worst and it lasted around 8 days after that it became more manageable. It's early days for you and as your other half had two weeks off that will really help. Take the meds even if you think i don't need it. It does get better

Just another reply to say keep up with the meds once home and get a heat pack in.
I had terrible back pain about a week after having a spinal.
I found the only thing which helped was the heat pack.
Don't over do anything once home.
Try and let your partner do as much as possible for the first few weeks and you enjoy your precious baby.
The pain of a csection is terrible but it does get better.
Especially after the first month.
Also, once I was home I put pads on my scar as I had fluid leaking out.
Just take it as easy as you can and congratulations!!

@BCA23 how are you doing?

I wasnt sent home with any pain relief. I did take paracetamol for the first few days. Not ibuprofen as found I had funny side effects. Getting out of bed was hell for the first few weeks and I remember when I walked out of the hospital I honestly thought I would never walk properly again.

I laid on my back sleeping for the first four weeks ish which as horrible as I have always slept on my side but it was far too painful. For me I felt a lot more comfortable after my dressing came off afte five daysb
