Diet

I'm 11 days postpartum, I absolutely hate this new version of my body. I'm aware after more time etc there may be more changes and 11 days isn't that long but when is it suitable to diet?

I thought about joining weight watchers or slimming world.

I don't fit any of my clothes. I'm smothered in stretch marks and I just want to be doing something to get me back to me.

Hi, I'm 6 weeks postpartum and have felt the same as you. My stomach has noticeably gone down in the last couple of weeks without a lot of effort. If you're feeling well in yourself go out for walks with your baby, they say not to do more vigorous exercise until after your 6 weeks check. Keep your stretch marks moisturised, i've noticed the angry redness starting to subside. Try not to focus on your body right now and enjoy your baby.

Hi @happygo! Are you breastfeeding or formula feeding (or mixed)? Dramatic weight loss may be be difficult if breastfeeding and you don't want to affect your supply by creating too much of a calorie deficit.

I found practising 16:8 to be a good way to lose the PP weight. Is that something that could work for you?

I'm not sure dieting will make a difference? You need to wait for everything to contract back down and excess fluid to come out. I found breastfeeding helped. You aren't "fat", you have just stretched to accommodate the baby and will go back down in time (although not necessarily to exactly the same shape). Give yourself a break, you just grew a whole new human! x

Please give yourself a bit of kindness. Everything doesn't magically go back after 2 weeks, it will take a bit of time.

Try to eat healthily and go for walks with your baby. If you're BFing your uterus may shrink back more quickly but if you're ffing it will just take a little longer, that's all.

@BunnyRuddington totally agree!

I'm over 6 weeks postpartum, my body has changed and I get the fat-shaming comments. I am ffing due to my meds. But I am going to diet at my own pace, no pressure from others. If I am tired, then I am tired, you won't see me training for a marathon! I am being kind to myself and my mental health too.
