Upper back pain after new baby

Hiya!
I've been having upper back pain on and off for the last few weeks. It's up around where the bra strap would be. Feels like a mix of pain and aching. Sometimes has the sensation of heart burn. It's not constant every single day but is annoying on days its flared up. Is it just muscle pain from holding and picking up the baby, and having bad posture during feeding?

Has anyone else had this? I'm 6 weeks pp and had epidural during labour although I imagine if they was the cause it would be lower pain?

Any help would be fab! It's just slow and hard work getting to see a gp and cant really show a bad back over a video consultation 🤷‍♀️

Are you breastfeeding? It sounds like it could be related to posture when feeding. You'll often find you are unconsciously holding yourself in an unnatural position for a long period of time.
Feeding cushions/ feeding lying down/ pillows behind your back can all help.

I wouldn't think it was related to epidural but worth checking with your GP.

I'm not breastfeeding but I do sit in the same sort of position during a bottle feed! Since I posted it isn't as intense as it was, so definitely think it is just bad posture and using muscles I havent for a while, surprising how much rest I was actually having while pregnant compared to now!

Hello long shot did you ever get answers ? My baby is 19 weeks exclusively breast fed but I’m only getting pain the side I hold and feed him off while moving or twisting my whole body to side

You need to regularly stretch your upper back. Try a postnatal yoga class or look up postnatal yoga on YouTube for some upper body twists and stretches. Watch your posture when picking up baby / feeding. Make sure you go out every day for a walk. I had this in the first week post-baby but as soon as I got on top of the stretching and daily exercise it went away.
