Tampon issue

JBCG · 20/05/2020 20:57

I gave birth to my son nearly a year ago now. My periods have just returned and sorry for the TMI but I am finding that tampons just don't seem to 'fit'. They feel uncomfortable no matter what size I use which I never had before.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything I can do or do I just need to accept that I'm different down there now?

Thanks in advance!

I've found that tampons just fall out now. I need to go to docs to get checked out. Only learnt recently that lots of women have issues with prolapse and pelvic floor afterwards which go undiagnosed for years. Definitely worth checking in with docs and maybe a physio. I sympathise OP!

Tampons definitely feel different 2 years post DS arriving, but I've also found that my periods are now much heavier (and less painful) than pre DS. I've needed to use a bigger size tampon now and it sounds grim but it sits in what feels like a different place now than it used to! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Not a helpful reply but just know you're not alone!

Thank you for coming back to me!

Yeah it feels like it's just sat differently - and is quite uncomfortable. Very good to know I'm not alone!

I can't use them anymore without use a towel/liner as well because they just leak. I think it's a very common problem, especially with prolapse (which I have).

You can self refer to women’s health physio. They are fantastic ladies who are positively evangelical about spreading the word on pelvic floor health.
I thought I was doing my exercises properly but I was way off. You won’t regret going. x

BellyMama · 29/05/2020 00:18

Same ladies - I thought my pelvic floor was all good though as can sneeze without peeing!! Obviously am an idiot 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ How do you self refer Allnamesaregone??

Allnamesaregone · 29/05/2020 02:37

There was a notice up in our doctors surgery with a number to call. I’m in Scotland so not sure how it works elsewhere. Maybe give your GP surgery a ring?

Ihaveoflate · 29/05/2020 13:03

I couldn’t self refer in England but saw my GP who referred me.

roxfox · 29/05/2020 13:08

I'll be referring myself soon. When I went to the physio classes they said we should post baby. Plus I never got my 6 week check because of corona. Lots of things I'd have called for, I held off.

Anyway what I came to say is, tampons are shit anyway and best avoided. I won't try to convert you because it never works that way. I'd just encourage any reader to look up some women's experiences with these items and the troubles they are accused of causing.

Wishing strong pelvic floors for all women!Smile

I have similar issues - I have an anterior and posterior prolapse. I find tampons now frequently turn 180 degrees inside me and come out the wrong way up. Also can't use a mooncup anymore as the prolapse squashes it out of shape so it leaks. I'm newly pregnant with baby 2 🤞 nothing gets much worse!! Wish I'd done more exercises!

Delbelleber · 30/05/2020 12:21

I had a c section birth with my 1st (and others) and even then I found the tampon never sat right. Strange! I just use pads now!

NowIKnowWhataTVDinnerFeelsLike · 30/05/2020 12:25

I had this too and thought I'd never use a tampon again. Then a friend suggested lilets and it's been fab - don't know how tampons can fit so differently but they've made life a lot easier. Recommend trying.
