How long to wait to have sex?

This is just a very forward question?
But how long has anyone ever waited after birth to have sex ?? I gave birth 13 days ago and I'm not going to lie my sex drive has been higher than ever.
Me and and partner have played about but we havent had sex, I'm to scared incase its painful or its going to feel awful. Are there any risks involved in this if it was to happen now? I have no bleeding at all now but I had a perineal stitch after birth but it seems to have healed now as there isnt much discomfort down there now. Would it be safe or should I wait longer?

You can have sex whenever you want to after birth. Take it slowly and ensure your partner knows to stop if you indicate they should. Enjoy.

I'm amazed you feel like it! However, you're not alone, I know someone who had sex again after a fortnight.

I presume you are no longer having lochia or bleeding and or have tear or stitches. If that's the case and you are otherwise well, try it gently and see how you go.

The official advice is six weeks of course, after your post natal exam. Many people wait a lot longer than that.

The official advice isn’t 6 weeks nor has it been for a while. Old wives tale.

With each of mine I’ve had sex after 2/3 weeks- no C section but 3 instrumental deliveries so stitches had to be healed.
Lubrication was an issue for me- as was squirting Breastmilk- so be prepared for that. The first few times weren’t as enjoyable but I liked the reconnection plus wanted it “over with” as I was worried about how it would all feel and if it would “work” 😂

I'm out of date then :-).

I just googled to find out what the current ideas are and came across, "There is no one size fits all". Grin

Whenever you feel ready is fine. Just make absolutely sure you take precautions as you can be very fertile after giving birth. Voice of experience here, and I was breastfeeding!

@Lynda07 😂 indeed- but bigger is better imo! Maybe that’s because of my assisted deliveries! 🙈
