Baby jabs in lockdown?

ldnstb123 · 23/03/2020 22:51

My baby is due her second round of vaccines next week and I'm not sure what's going on now with this lockdown, will babies still be ok to go to their appointments etc? I can't call my doctors as they are closed tonight so just wondered if anybody else was in the same boat

I will call doctors tomorrow but just wanted to see if anybody on here knows what happens re baby jabs

Baby jabs are classed as essential (by PHE, and I assume their equivalents). So you should attend, unless you are unwell or in isolation at time of the appointment.

Last thing anyone needs right now is a bad year for measure or whooping cough

Agreed classed as essential

My HV rang my dd due to have 3rd injections on Thursday. I have to go to the car park at scheduled appointment time, and wait in my car until they ring me to come in so there are no other ppl there but they will go ahead.

Hilary Jones was saying on GMB today that overnight the decision was made to postpone all vaccinations as there deemed to be non essential at the moment because people are in lockdown. Any one know if this is true? My baby is due his first vaccinations in a week and a half ☹️

Harriett123 · 26/03/2020 22:57

I'm in same boat with appointment on Monday. I was going to ring my surgery in the morning to confirm but following here

Ours still went ahead on Tuesday despite the lock down. Call your gp just to check x

MerryDeath · 27/03/2020 07:10

my baby had his yesterday. just call the GP when you can.

I have DS' 6-8 week check with doctor on Monday - HV said this will be when they do his first vaccinations. Had a text last weekend from the GP surgery saying all appointments have been changed to a phone call, if a phone call isn't appropriate (eg. blood tests etc) they will contact me but I've not heard from them. I can't get through to them this morning to check and the appointment is first thing in the morning. Do I go to the surgery or not? V. confused 🤷🏼‍♀️

GrumpyHoonMain · 27/03/2020 11:16

All immunisations are classed as essential here

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 28/03/2020 09:39

Ours were due to be on Monday, but I've been told that it's now a phone appointment - not sure how they're planning on doing jabs by phone!

Mewbookitty · 28/03/2020 17:43

My baby had his third set on Wednesday. They rang me first to check we were all feeling well and no one had any covid 19 symptoms but they said he still had to have his jabs so we had to get there on time, no earlier.

muminmanchester · 28/03/2020 19:42

DD is due her MMR next week, I'd assumed they'd be postponed as our doctors is closed and all appointments by telephone, but I'll call on Monday and check now, thanks OP for this thread

Harriett123 · 28/03/2020 20:02

Talked to my surgery. They said to come in for his jabs on Monday. I'm in Devon if that makes any difference.

ifeeltheneedtheneedforsleep · 01/04/2020 13:19

My surgery called this morning to say they will do a phone appointment first to endure no one in the house has symptoms and if clear will then be asked to go in for the 8 week check and jabs
