C section infection

Had C section 2 weeks ago, all healing fine then couple of days ago felt terrible and skin around scar was extremely red.

Went to GP Tuesday and was given antibiotics which was fine, but last night had to ring 111 as my scar wouldn’t stop pussing (sorry TMI) when the Dr rang me back from 111 he said that as I was on antibiotics already there wasn’t much he could do at the moment and that the puss was a good sign for it healing.

Does this seem right? If anyone has had similar before did the pussing clear up and go away? I’m so stressed right now as I really don’t want to end up back in hospital 😟 and I can’t do anything because it’s just constantly running out of me.

This is rubbish advice and can't believe a doctor would say pus is a sign of healing.
Pus is a sign of wound abscess and will need cleaning. In addition if your antibiotics are not making things better, you might need another type of antibiotics or IV antibiotics.
If you have liquid running out of your wound, you need medical attention now. Go to the hospital, a c-section infection is serious and could spread. Do you have a temperature?

Did the gp swab the infection at your first appointment? Mine did and put me on a broad spectrum antibiotic to start and switched me to a specific one when the results came back. I did end up going back in between as it was still weeping but they didn't want to switch antibiotics until the swabs came back.

The pussing doesn't sound great so I'd try to see someone today (gp if you can get in or if not are you still in the period when you can ring the postnatal ward?). See the f they'll swab it if they haven't already

The GP didn’t swab me as at the time of seeing her as there was no puss, it was just the skin around it that seemed infected. So she just had a feel.

I will ring GP again and see what she thinks now that it is pussing. Really didn’t feel right what the 111 Dr had said to me last night. I’m sure when I was asking questions on the phone he was sighing and trying to rush me off.

Nope that doesn’t sound right at all. Please just call the ward that discharged you. I know it’s not what you want but you may well need IV antibiotics at this stage.

Take care and if you get a chance, let us know how you get on.

PS I’m not medical, but had similar experience where started on antibiotics that didn’t clear infection.

You need medical attention not a medical conversation. If you have liquid constantly running out of you, you have sever infection. Go to A&E.

You could get sepsis and die from a c-section infection.

Been today and they graded me for Sepsis and came up as low risk. The antibiotics I’m on they have said are the best for me and that the actual scar is looking better.

Thank you for all your advice as without it I would of not asked for help again. They’d like me to go back next week and have it checked again. They have given me dressings so I’m feeling a bit better now it’s covered up again.
