So, i am two weeks postpartum, after an emergency c-section under general, i gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. I am a FTM. Now things are as great as can be expected, getting the hang of night feeds, some explosive nappies etc. It's a huge change but so far I love being her mammy.

What I don't love, are the bloody night sweats. I attended my GP for our two week check up a couple of days ago who told me that night sweating while normal should not be as severe as I'm telling her mine are. If I am not feeling baby at night (we are bottle feeding her) I still rarely sleep through the night, not because of still waking with her and partner at feeding times but because the excessive sweating wakes me up. I have to change twice a night at least and put a new towel down every night.
I'm on antibiotics from doc because she thinks I may have slight infection, temp has been 37.5 since Thursday and I'm to go to maternity hospital should it reach 38. I've also lost a significant amount of weight since giving birth. I haven't been this weight in about 5 years maybe? Doctor mentioned over active thyroid. I am wondering if anybody else has suffered with this and are there any reassurances you can give before going back to doctor on Monday.
It is having an effect on my mental health as well as my physical. I have a good appetite but don't seem to be gaining weight.

If anybody could shed some light as to what the heck is going on with my body could you please :-(

I had terrible night sweats after having my first baby. The same as you, I would wake drenched in sweat and had to change twice a night. I had to sleep on a towel. My Gp said it's absolutely normal while your hormones level out and it's the bodies way of getting rid of the extra fluid. Mine lasted for about six weeks. I have just had my second baby and it's started again! Really hoping it doesn't last as long this time 🤞🏻

Mine were awful with my 3rd baby.
Really surprised me.

Thank God I'm not the only one!

My GP is an older lady and she's a bit of a worrier so when I told her she was immediately saying nope they shouldn't be that bad. And then being concerned about my weight loss too, she had me worrying!

This is one of those things nobody told me about after the baby comes along 🙈🙈

Oh yes I remember this. And weeing All. The. Time. As others say, it’s your body getting rid of excess fluid. Mine wasn’t as bad as yours sounds, but I was bf so presumably the baby was taking a load too. It did go away after about 3/4 weeks for me - it’s all a bit of a blur in terms of timeline now 😂. I was delighted with my initial weight loss, but sleep deprivation mixed with baby group cake and biscuits put it all on again by the 6 months point (I have little will power)

Enjoy your lovely squishy cuddles and hope you heal smoothly. Smile
