Advice please ! I think I’ve had a prolapse during birth, so they resolve themselves?

Hi I’m new in here ! I gave birth to my DS 16 days ago ( my first child ) and I’m having a few issues down there ! I had an assisted delivery with forceps and ended up having an episiotomy, my stitches have seemed to of healed fine but I feel like I have a tampon falling out constantly... as it’s my first birth I thought this must be a normal thing after giving birth but after asking dr google I’ve read lots of horror stories about prolapsesConfused so I decided to have a check and I do feel a bulge in my vagina it’s not visible to see in a mirror but I do feel something blocking down there Sad I’ve got an appointment with the doctor tomorrow so I’m going to ask about it and see what can be done but I’d like some advice off other mums who’ve had similar experiences.... do they resolve themselves or am I being to hasty as it’s only been 16 days after giving birth ? Thanks in advance x

Hi OP

I think 16 days is quite early, so try not to worry. I had a forceps delivery, an episiotomy and I tore as well. I thought I had a pro lapse around 4 months PP as I still felt 'heavy' is that how you feel? As you say it felt like a tampon was going falling out at any moment. The GP physically examined me and I didn't have one, she said everything had healed okay and that due to the cut and tear it is likely to feel different down there. I struggled a lot with constipation which doesn't help either, so make sure you don't get bunged up.

I'm now 5 months PP and I feel okay now, I'm not sure if it's more your mind as you're thinking about it a lot, I certainly was anyway.

Hope everything is okay for you Smile

At 16 days after giving birth you will still be very bruised, battered & swollen. I had a c section & I can still remember feeling like this, I felt every time I went to the toilet that everything was going to fall out. Do your pelvic floor exercises that you should have been given by the hospital before discharge. Although you think your episiotomy has healed there will still be a lot of healing still going on under the surface, the layers of muscle & tissues will still be knitting together, be careful with any lifting & get plenty of rest.
