Hello!
I had my beautiful daughter 8 days ago. I have developed a constant pressure in my chest due to anxiety and have also developed insomnia.

I don't know exactly why I'm so scared, I am so worried when my partner goes back too work.. I have no one around me, what if something happens.. how will I cope? My family live far away and I have no friends..

I'm terrified to my core. I am in such an emotional state.
Any advice would be great.

I'm so sorry you feel like this! having a child is honestly the most stressful and confusing time.

The first thing I would do is talk to someone like midwife or health visitor. This is totally normal, and their job is to support you. I'm looked after by a perinatal mental health team as well, who are really great. Literally someone on the other end of the phone whenever I need it.

Then I know it's really early, but when you are ready, hunt out all the local groups. Our health visitors run one for new mums, or if you can afford it do something like baby massage. I was in a similar position to you first time round and I made so many friends this way.

It's absolutely terrifying, but it will pass, and you will be an amazing mum.

I went to the doctor as I felt so so anxious and I was having panic attacks. I was diagnosed with PND and was given tablets. I feel back to myself now. They have really helped me, I couldn't have done it without them as I just didn't understand why I was feeling the way I was feeling. Talk to your doctor they really help. You are not alone xx
