Reoccurring thrush

*Sorry if this doesn't count as post natal but hoped might get more response / hear from other mum's with youngish babies on here.
I am really at the end of my tether. I had thrush for final few months of my 2nd pregnancy which after a couple of treatments cleared up. I then had it pretty much throughout my 3rd pregnancy. After 3 bouts of 5 day meds the doctor told me if it was low level and bearable just to live with it and it would go away once baby was here and my hormones calmed down.
Baby is now 9 months and I have had low-level thrush most of the time. Normally it isn't bad (very mild discomfort, almost not enough to notice) which gets uncomfortable the week before my period, then after period it generally feels like it has gone away until the next month. But it is killing my sex life! If my husband and I ever do actually DTD it flares it up and I have 'proper' painful/ uncomfortable thrush and I have to go back to the doctors... I am not on the pill so we use protection so it isn't a care of it being re-transimitted to me.
Basically, has anyone else been like this? Is there something else the doctors can do? Are there natural remedies thst help? I have already stopped using bubble bath, got feminine wash for the shower etc. Feel like I am going to spend the rest of my life like this!!

Look up the Candida diet that’s supposed to be great.
Or you could try acidophilus tablets from a herbal shop like Holland and barratt.
I had reoccurring thrush pre pregnancy but luckily it’s settled since having a baby.

I found that if I was a little "dry" before/during sex the friction brought it on.

I have also started taken probiotics and evening primrose oil and I thought I had it re occurring a few Months ago for the first time in ages but used some canasten cream and it disappeared.

I always keep a canasten tablet and cream handy just in case.

I also stay away from ANY soap products for down below, just good old water doesn't disrupt the pH.

Try and cut down on processed and sugary foods and drinks and stick to a organic type diet of fruit, veg, meat and fish.

It may be a case if resetting your tummy bacteria and then building up from there. Most cases of thrush I read start in the stomach.

Hey, other posters have said pretty much what i was going to say so the only thing to add i'd say is taking some cranberry capsules from H&B, really good for overall vaginal health.

Thank you all for your responses. I have cut out all sugary and processed food (except for bacon, can't help myself!) from my diet in the last 2 months so hope that might have some long-term benefits once I sort this bout out. I might looking probiotic tablets again, I used some when pregnant but didn't help as I guess hormones were too strong. I had heard cranberry juice was good for UTIs but didn't know about the tablets so might grab those too! Just so bloody frustrating, I just don't feel like myself and like I said, it's been tough on the old love life! Feel sorry for my husband (but not as sorry as I feel for myself! Lol) thanks again for posts.

Something to consider -

Try using latex free condoms. The latex ones can cause sensitivity which can aggravate thrush.

Ask your GP about Ovestin cream. It’s oestrogen cream you put into your vagina. It should help to create the right PH which can reduce things like thrush and utis. It was life changing for me. (Also if you don’t have the right environment down there your vagina won’t be absorbing the thrush treatments properly anyway).

Dh should still be treated even if you’re using condoms. The bacteria can live on sheets, bedding, hands whatever else. Unlikely but can happen so to be sure he really should be putting some cream on his bits!

I have this problem, I tried citricidal douche affected areas and used in my washing machine worked to get it under control. But still comes back monthly or after sex. I use lube as pp sats its the friction that irritates.

Its a PITA...
