Baby screaming through the night

Hi everyone. Looking for some advice. My baby started screaming in the middle of the night for hours at about a week old. Spoke to our health visitor who advised using infacol as our baby seems to be in pain from maybe trapped wind. After trying this we had 5 nights in a row with no screams but now our baby is back to waking about 1.30am and screaming til 4am. Me and my partner take turns and have tried what feels like everything but nothing seems to stop the screams til he falls asleep again. The screams are upsetting to listen to as he sounds in so much pain plus its exhausting and we dread the nights! Anyone any ideas what could help? Or been in a similar situation? As i also find when I talk to people about it they either go on about how good a sleeper their baby is or they make us feel like we are doing something wrong. Thanks!x

Our dd did this for a few weeks when she was born, we figured out it was trapped wind/poo. We would lay her on our bent knees in bed and just slowly bring her knees to her chest and down again, and move them around in a clock wise motion, and do bicycle legs with her for a good half an hour until she either pooed or passed wind. It just takes their tiny little tubes a while to get used to functioning properly. She's fine now (9 weeks) and can fart and poo efficiently by herself! Infacol never worked with her, just made her vomit!

Thanks everyone for the good advice. He is sleeping so well through the night now. The screaming has moved from the middle of the night to the evening. Sometimes he will burp and then cry in pain. Things have got better, gripe water seems to calm him down after an hour or two. Also been doing the bicycle movement with the legs and tummy massage during every nappy change if he is calm enough for it. Taking him a walk in the pram or out in the car helps so it is so much more manageable now that its not happening at 1am!
