Episiotomy pain

I’m 4days post partum and had a mediolateral episiotomy.. a big one.. up my arse big. LO was coming out at a 45degree angle. Now I’m home I’ve been given paracetamol and ibuprofen but tbh they’re doing next to nothing. The pads are irritating the life out of me too, I don’t normally wear pads but I doubt I’d be ok with a tampon.

Currently I’ve sat on an ice pack and using a fleece wipe between me and the pad to stop the bloody chaffing and irritating from it.. not that it’s working.

What will save my foof!

Rubber ring my mom told me. Unfortunately I couldn't get one at that time of year. Anyway, I used my breatfeeding pillow which helped while I was sitting down

I had an episiotomy 10 days ago and my stitches tore on day 5. So painful, especially when going for a wee. My midwife recommended having a bath with tee tree and lavender oil (mixed with a bit of cows milk to dissolve in the water rather than float). I've been doing it daily and it's really helped. I don't feel like the episiotomy pain is there anymore. Just the dull aching from child birth everywhere else!

And you can go to the gp to be prescribed co-codamol (or a stronger painkiller).

Day 4/5 was the worst for me. It does get better... and arnica tablets really helped with the bruising too!

Mothercare maternity pads with aloe Vera were a dream compared to every other brand I tried when I had epic stitches after DC1!

It's so sore so sorry you're going through it! I had an infection in mine and was prescribed diclofenac which was a really effective painkiller you can take along with paracetamol and it's safe for bf also. Pleas if you're in a lot of pain do ask your midwife if they could consider it. Other than that definitely a rubber ring, tea tree oil in bath, and witch hazel all helpful. It does get better and hugs to u.
