6 week check

Does anyone know if it is child abuse or neglect to not have a six week check or to miss the appointment? I know you can refuse vaccines but would that be counted as abuse if refusing the six week check is?

Why wouldn’t you take your baby for their 6 week check?

It isn't but why wouldn't you go.

Just203 · 13/02/2019 16:22

I'm not saying I wouldn't. I have been told by the doctor that because we booked late after missing the first appointment she could report it to social services.

It could possibly be seen as a red flag, that potentially there might be something the parents are trying to hide. Could also show neglect and a lack of interest in the child's wellbeing.

Not sure but I suppose the doctor could think you were hiding something if you didn’t go to the appointment on time (not accusing you by the way but just trying to see it from the doctor’s perspective)

I know some parents choose not to vaccinate their children which I am getting my child vaccinated. Would it been seen as neglect for those parents who do so?

Unless there was previous concerns or open to social care the Dr is scaremongering especially as it was just a late booking .
