Periods after childbirth

I gave birth 5 months ago. My periods returned within 6 weeks. I came on yesterday and I cannot believe how heavy it is.

I'm in agony and have soaked through 3 super tampons and have bled through 3 pairs of knickers since yesterday night.

Has anyone else's periods come back with a vengeance since they've had DC? I mean, they've always been heavy but this is crazy.

Luckily I'm still on maternity leave, but I'll be going back to work in a few months.

Is there anything that I can do? I don't fancy the coil, I've heard that some people bleed for months on end afterwards? The implant - I've heard - can cause weight gain (I've just managed to almost shed the baby weight as it is)

I fell pregnant after religiously being on the pill for 8 years so am terrified of that happening again.

My periods were heavier after having a child. They did settle down but do seem much worse than they were pre children

@Worieddd ridiculous, isn't it? Surely Mother Nature is doing something wrong here...

Hello,

Congrats on your new baby :)

I'm sorry you're going through that. You should pay a visit to the doctors. I didn't start my period till 10 months after I had my dc. But I do remember it being quite painful and heavy. Your body just went through quite a bit of change, and your hormones haven't regulated yet.

Have you considered the hormonal coil, or the injection. Both are good for regulating your flow. I was in the contraceptive injection, and I had no period, which was nice, but quite strange at the same time, because I do like the natural flow of the body. Go to a clinic and discuss different options, that may work for you.

Xx
