Everything still hurts

I'm 9 months pp.

Forceps delivery. 5 hour pushing stage.

I had a lot of discomfort for the first 3 months, feeling like I'd be kicked in the vagina with bruise like pain that seemed to come from my left butt bone. I also constantly had pain from my scar / stitches (cut for forceps, forgot the technical term) I was told repeatedly that I should give myself 6months to recover.

I had NO control over my pelvic floor for a good 2 months after birth, I couldnt squeeze or anything but no incontinence etc.

Since 3 months pp the achy, bruise like feeling in butt cheek randomly appears and is always there at my period, it is a radiating pain that seems to make all my muscles tense in my butt, and vagina. I often feel like my vagina is irrated, like the start of thrush but I honestly think I've only had thrush once or twice since giving birth. After I've urinated the muscle like ache eases a little, but not for long. No UTIs.

I considered prolapse but I have no incontinence, and can squeeze quite well now etc. I can't see or feel any prolapse but my vagina opening is certain more open to the touch and view. DP says he feels no difference during sex, but we have required lube whereas before we never did.

Im calling my GP tomorrow as I've had a flare up of the problem for the past few days. I just don't know what it could be, or how best to really get them to understand after brushing me off before.

I genuinely think something was broken during the forceps usage, or I've got a prolapse that's not as obvious as usual.

Note, I know forceps hurt but I remember me reacting a scene from the exercist as I rose off the bed screaming - and the pain was left sided towards my butt/back.

Did I read that right.. 5 hours of pushing? Shock
I had an episiotomy for forceps birth and a third degree tear so had to be signed off by a consultant after the birth.. I am glad you are ringing your gp as this doesn’t sound right

Yep. Nearly 5 hours. Started pushing, was for a while then told to stop - doctor came in and told to start again. Eventually got forceps as they lost the baby heart rate and mine was sky high.

You have my sympathies OP! 5 hours of pushing here too and episiotomy and it’s resulted in a prolapse. I don’t have any pain but just wanted to say don’t rule out a prolapse just because you have no incontenace problems, at 7 weeks pp I had some retained placenta and the surgeon noticed I had a bladder prolapse then, otherwise I would be none the wiser, had no symptoms at all (and I had been running so probs made it worse) Still on the waiting list for physio, but def get checked out by a professional. Hope you get sorted soon x

I had forceps and 3rd degree tear after 2 hours of pushing.

I aches down there for months. Walking I was in agony. The whole area throbbed. My women’s health physio said it was tissue damage from the forceps. I was very bruised. Gradually over time it got better. An now I only get that ache come back on my period.

See the GP. An a women health physio on NHS will determine if there are any prolapses or any pelvic floor dysfunctions. Both of these can cause pain. But they can help.
