I gave birth last Wednesday and suffered a 3rd degree tear which was fixed in surgery, it hurt very little up until today where it's been hurting all day, should I be worried as sitting and walking is becoming uncomfortable x

Mine did that and when I had it checked out they said it was part of the healing process, often feels itchy and more uncomfortable. I found putting tee tree oil in the bath really helped. I’d just run a few inches of water in the bath and theee times a day jump in it.

You can always get your mid wife to take a look at the healing process

Congratulations by the way

You poor thing. I remember those days all too well.

Is it possible you have overdone it a bit today? Or done anything today that you haven't been doing? Are you still under the care of your midwife, might be worth getting her to come check you over?

In the meantime are you being looked after by both yourself and partner/Mum/anyone else who can lend a hand?

I also found Epsom salt in the bath was a godsend. Was quite painful until around 10 weeks.

Oh no poor you! My tear felt similar about a week after I had it stitched and I got it checked out and turns out that as the tear heals it tightens up and starts to feel more painful. I was just advised to keep taking plenty of painkillers- anti inflammatories are especially important- and make sure I kept it clean and dry. But I will say please give your midwife a ring- they won’t mind taking a look even if it’s just for reassurance. They’d far rather take a look now than you wait few days and potentially have things get worse (not that I’m suggesting anything is wrong! Don’t want to worry you!!).

I also second the advice to make sure you have plenty of help. I know it’s really hard to overlook everything but the baby and yourself, but everything else will be ok for taking a back seat for a while but you really need this time to heal properly.
