Hi I'm not sure if this is related to pregnancy but just wondering if anyone else has experienced these symptoms? I gave birth 5 weeks ago and for a few days now I've started to get a lot of heart palpitations which are very worrying. They are starting to effect my daily life as I'm very worried about them, I went to A&E last night and they gave me a ECG which was fine apparently and I also had blood tests done! Just finding it very frustrating just wish I knew why they were happening

You might have super ventricular tachycardia. FWIW it's common in women, especially pg women but can manifest itself immediately after delivery.

I have it, had it all my life and it's not life threatening but as it's new for you course it's scary.

Does your heart beat normally, almost "pause", and then hammer away?

If you are worried see your GP who can order a 24 or 72 hour ecg. As Legend said, in the context of normal bloods and ECG very likely to be SVT which is not dangerous but can be unpleasant, but it's always worth a longer recording to try to capture it to be sure.

Thanks for your reply! In 2015 I had an episode of SVT I ended up in A&E with my heart rate going 230 beats per minute, scariest experience of my full life! I ended up getting a medication called adenosine to revert it back into normal rhythm. As you can appreciate it's very scary, I had a failed ablation the cardiologist signed me off and said my heart was healthy and they couldn't tell me why this had happened. At the time I smoked and drank a lot of caffeine so I've been completely stimulant free and I was fine during my pregnancy. And then Friday night I've started to get like a pound in my chest and then it feels like it stops for a second it doesn't go fast which isn't like my SVT symptoms before I really hope this isn't the start of a load of problems again Sad I'm hoping it's to do with me being tired? Feeling anxious and my hormones still being all over the place

Fucking hell, a failed ablation sounds mega scary.

From everything you've put I would just check in with GP and actually request cardiology referral.

The problem is that holters and 24h EKGs don't guarantee a tachycardia episode will be picked up.

Tip: to stop the palpitation strain like you are pooping (don't follow through though!)

It suppresses the vagus nerve (?) and slows or ceases the episode. When my SVT went haywire in pregnancy it did usually work but my maximums were only 180 x
