I'm not sure if I have a cold sore, I've never had one but quite worried about baby.

Just checking to see if my 15 week baby will be ok?

Cold sores are the herpes virus which can be very serious in babies. You need to take precautions as far as possible around your baby- no kissing, avoid them touching your face etc. Keep an eye on your baby and if you think they’re unwell/drowsy/cross get them checked out and make sure to mention your cold sore. Take it seriously, but don’t panic- at this age it’s easy enough to stop it spreading as they’re not trying to drink out of the same glass as you etc. Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you for replying.

I feel so bad, like I've said I have never had one but had a very stressful year and feeling a bit low so not sure if that's what's brought it on.

I woke up with a red circle on lower lip which felt tingly but it looks like it's going away already and so is the sensation?

I'll keep an eye on it.

You’ve a 15 week old baby- of course you’re run down! Wink hopefully it will clear up quickly!

It thankfully cleared up that afternoon, not sure if it was one but had a wee panic that morning.

Thanks for replying.

I've just realised I've got a coldsore - normally get these every couple of years and it usually starts with a tingle. I have a 3 week old baby and read that the cold sore virus can cause death to a baby!! I don't think I've kissed her since i noticed the sore but I'm really anxious about the virus being spread. I'm trying to be as careful as possible. Watching the baby for any symptoms of drowsiness/fever etc. She breastfed all day yesterday so don't want to confuse a sleepy baby with a baby that is ill Confused
