Prolapse?

GreyMorning · 27/12/2017 22:56

So 4 weeks PP and I had a look at 'down there' in the mirror, I can see my urethra... I have a feeling all the time like a heavy tampon is about to fall out.

It's a fucking prolapse isn't it?

I'm paying extra attention to my pelvic floor exercises and I will flag it at my 8 week check but I'm scared I've ruined my vagina.

Has anyone fixed a prolapse with exercises?

HELP!

Speak to your doctor about your concerns when you have your 6 week check.

It does sound like it could be a prolapse. I have one I discovered at 4.5 weeks PP. I’m finally starting to feel better now at almost 14 months PP. Talk to your GP and ask for a referral to a women’s health physio. Mine has been a godsend. I went through a period of mourning and have found out my prolapse is caused by some other injuries, but I’m feeling much more positive about things. I am on a wonderful Facebook group with very supportive women (mostly young Mums like us!) so if you want the details PM me.

Don't wait until your checkup, get an appointment/ referral to a Women's Health Physio as soon as you can be seen for a proper diagnosis and advice.

In the mean time there's a lot you can do to minimise pressure on your pelvic floor - google it.

I have a bladder and bowel prolapse (mild) and am managing them through PF exercising under the guidance of a WH Physio. I'm 12 months PP. I also have to take plenty of rest (feet up) and avoid heavy lifting. My Physio feels once I've full recovered (I had a 3b tear) which she thinks will take another 6 months my symptoms (which are fairly minimal) will be under control.

Keep yourself very well hydrated and eat lots of insoluble/soluble fibre to prevent constipation.

I was devestated when I found out, but I'm pretty positive and upbeat about it all now.

So early post partum...you can get better!! There are things you need to avoid such as constipation, heavy lifting, impact activities.
Sherrie Palm the founder and director of Association for Pelvic Organ Prolapse Support (APOPS) will be doing a live webchat here on Mumsnet on Tuesday!!!

I had similar.

Was your birth straight forward?

I got until 7-8 weeks pp to feel better, and that was with doing my pelvic floor exercises ALOT.

acquiescence · 03/03/2018 11:32

Are you feeling any improvement OP (and others?)
I’m in a similar situation at 6 weeks pp.

Are you sure it's a prolapse? I was sure I had it until I was actually.diagnoses with an inclusion vulvar cyst as a result of a PPH which can be removed in surgery (not as invasive as prolapse)
