I had my daughter on 3rd September, and have been using condoms with my partner, I’ve had light spotting but no period yet, I have done two pregnancy tests which came back negative.. I am also exclusively formula feeding.. any ideas?

Sounds normal. Took 3 months for af to return when I had DD.

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 28/10/2017 18:59

It can take a while for them to come back even if you're not breastfeeding. With my first it didn't come back until 3 months after birth and I formula fed.

RatRolyPoly · 28/10/2017 18:59

I think that's quite normal isn't it?

cowssheephens · 28/10/2017 19:01

I never had a period, as I was pregnant.

Heratnumber7 · 28/10/2017 19:02

You had a baby 6 weeks ago and your having sex?

ArcheryAnnie · 28/10/2017 19:15

It took two years for my period to return after having my DS.

KadabrasSpoon · 28/10/2017 19:17

Normal. The spotting could be the last bits of lochia, it can go on a while.

Acopyofacopy · 28/10/2017 19:19

Normal. I didn’t bf and it took 6 months for my period to return.

Orangebird69 · 28/10/2017 19:21

Totally normal. I ebfd and didn't get a period until I started weaning ds at 6 months. Bit gutted tbh! I'm still bfing now and not having any more babies to periods can do one afaic.

MamaOfTwos · 28/10/2017 19:33

Took 8 months for me to get anything (breast feeding)

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 28/10/2017 19:43

Sounds like your body is just getting back to normal. If your getting negative tests and your being super cautious with condoms you won't be pregnant.

Maybe lay off the sex for a bit and make sure your body is completely healed. You only had a baby 8 weeks ago remember.

BalloonDinosaur · 28/10/2017 21:20

Same as PP, though I was BF. It was 8 months before mine came back.

cheminotte · 28/10/2017 21:22

Enjoy it while it lasts. Totally normal.

amymel2016 · 28/10/2017 21:24

Totally normal, mine took 4 months and was FF

WindyOutThere · 28/10/2017 21:27

I had a baby a few days before you and I’m currently on my period so I wouldn’t worry.
Also, yes it’s perfectly normal for people to have sex 6 weeks after having a baby! HmmI’m perfectly healed thank you very much!!

RatRolyPoly · 29/10/2017 11:56

Baffles me as to why anyone would give the unsolicited advice to lay off sex just because you had a baby six weeks ago. But hey, you have a kid now, EVERYONE is going to be giving you unsolicited advice!

FuzzyOwl · 29/10/2017 11:58

I know it happens but it is much more unusual to have a period again that soon after giving birth, regardless of how you feed.

BikeRunSki · 29/10/2017 12:00

Normal, I ff DS from a week old and period came back after 3 months. DD was dd from 3 weeks, period came back after 6 months.

Migraleve · 29/10/2017 12:04

You had a baby 6 weeks ago and your having sex?
Hmm it is perfectly normal to be doing so

As it is normal also to not see your period for some months

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 29/10/2017 16:58

Why the raised eyebrow at having sex after 6 weeks?

Migraleve · 29/10/2017 17:32

Why the raised eyebrow at having sex after 6 weeks?

I think you misread that. The raised eyebrow was at the pp who made a dog about having sex after 6 weeks. Not because of it.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 29/10/2017 18:56

That's what I meant-the poster that couldn't believe anyone would use their bits again Grin

holdthewine · 29/10/2017 19:29

Migraleve shaking with laughter at your “made a dog” typo totally misses point of thread

holb93 · 29/10/2017 21:25

Thank you all. I don’t see a problem with having sex????!!

There is nothing wrong with having sex 6 weeks after a baby, I was healed by 4 weeks and had sex then.More horny after baby was born
