Bleeding from c section wound

So 16 days ago I had to have an emergency c section. It was healing nicely but today I've noticed a tiny bit of bleeding on the incision but I think I could be to blame as I have been doing housework today. Do you think that's what's caused it? I saw the midwife 3 days ago and she said it looked fine then so I'm thinking this is my fault 😂 thanks

As long as there's no increased pain or 'gaping' it's probably just a bit of trauma from overdoing it. You need to take it easy! However, I think you should give the MWs at hospital a ring and let them know anyway. They may want to visit again to take a look or ask you to go in. You've had major surgery and cannot ignore this. Hope all is ok and congratulations! Flowers

I had similar - they said it was a haematoma and would take up to 6 weeks to stop bleeding so I just dressed it every day and also tried to air it out when possible.
It stopped after about 5 weeks and I'm 15 months post partum now with no long term effects.
It just made me feel really icky as i was bleeding from the scar, bleeding downstairs and leaking milk so it was just a constant patch up job for that time!

Please go and get it checked out, it may have become infected.

It's better to be safe than sorry, with things like this.

It's easy just to ring your surgery. Midwife, doctor or nurse can advise. They'll tell you if they need to see you.

My doctor's is now closed for the weekend and midwife has signed me off.

Ring the out of hours service then.

I would just ring the postnatal ward and ask them what you should do. An out of hours GP isn't going to be as helpful as a MW who looks at section wounds day in day out.

A doctor needs to look at it, not a midwife as you may need antibiotics prescribing.

Midwifes look at Caesarian wounds to assess if it's healing properly, or if it's showing signs of infection and will advise you to go to hospital to get it checked out.

Please ring the ward you were on on hospital to seek advice, or contact NHS 111 who can arrange an out of hours appointment for you.

I had this. It became infected. Please ring 111 x
