Varicose vein treatment between pregnancies

Was wondering if anyone has had vein treatment between pregnancies and whether they thought it was worth it?
I am 5 months postpartum, first baby, I just have small ones on both legs at the moment but am worried they will get worse with next pregnancy if i don't get them treated before hand.
I had terrible vulva varicose veins and wonder if anyone has had these treated and went on to have a easy pregnancy?

Hi there!

I've had 5 ops to remove them. I have dreadful veins however the ones around the vulva will go down in time (you can have these dealt with quite easily if they don't disappear entirely). Mine were done between pregnancies but new ones popped up. Unfortunately, if you're prone to varicose veins, they'll come back to bite during every pregnancy.

My veins caused me problems in my third pregnancy in that I got a blood clot post delivery which was swiftly treated with blood thinners. 4th pregnancy and delivery was totally fine. They had considered putting me on warfarin (blood thinners) as a precaution during my last pregnancy but monitored me instead and I was fine... just veiny. Confused Post delivery with my last one, I was given blood thinners to inject at home for a few days but at least I was able to avoid them (blood thinners) in pregnancy. You can't have an epidural if you're on blood thinners during pregnancy, FYI.

The vulva ones are quite scary looking but usually cause no problems during pregnancy and delivery.

The thing I would say is, go ahead and get them treated but be aware that in your next pregnancy, they may come back. My stripped veins have never come back. My ablated veins have always returned in pregnancy. But you can get them treated again if they do come back.

Thanks TheVanguardSix!
Strange i thought the lasered veins would be less likely to come back seen as its the 'new and improved' technique. How was your recovery? Any difference between the two?
Just wondering how the pregnancy after the treated vulva veins went? Did they start earlier? were they more painful? Last 10 weeks of the pregnancy i was basically on bed rest due to it.
Was quite a surprise to me as none of my family have them.. I'm just lucky i guess Hmm
Sorry for all the questions.

you do realise it'll likely have to be private - the NHS does almost no varicose vein surgery these days

So I've been told.. don't see why you can't get treatment for something that causes you ongoing pain!
I will be getting my legs done private, but I was hoping to get the ones in my pelvis would be done on the NHS as I can't see how that could be deemed a cosmetic surgery?

Possibly. different areas have more or less strict criteria. interestingly this guidance only mentions leg ones! www.enfieldccg.nhs.uk/Downloads/Policies/NCL-Procedures-of-Limited-Clinical-Effectiveness-PoLCE-Policy-June-2015-2016.pdf
